7 things that show the Irish mammy is going global

The Irish mammy is having a moment.

YESTERDAY, THE SUNDAY Independent reported that Baz Ashmawy’s show 50 Way To Kill Your Mammy has been picked up by Israeli broadcaster Channel X.

The news follows a series of deals made back in August ahead of the show’s premiere on Sky 1, which saw the programme sell to France’s M6, Chello Central Europe, Sky Italia, Nat Geo People, SVT, AMC Networks Iberia, Quebec’s Evasion, Poland’s Polsat and Choice TV New Zealand.

Leona Connell, Head of Global Sales at Sky Vision, told DailyEdge.ie:

We are thrilled with the international success of this series, securing a number of important deals prior to broadcast on Sky.  Baz and Nancy are great hosts as they test the mother and son relationship to the limits and travel to a range of stunning locations around the world.

Between this news and the success of Mrs. Brown’s Boys, one thing is becoming abundantly clear: the Irish mammy has gone global.

Don’t believe us? Here’s some more compelling evidence.

1. UK viewers love and worship Nancy Ashmawy.

2. Groups of Irish mammies are getting together in Australia. The movement is spreading.
